WELCOME SEASON 2012
Football season is rapidly approaching for another year! The Warwick Greenwood Junior Football Club would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the players, parents, coaches, managers and volunteers to Season 2012. 2011 was a very successful year for all our age groups in our club and we would like to continue to build on that success.

So welcome to Season 2012 and to our first newsletter of the season.

Fundraising for Season 2012

posted 29 Jan 2012 00:07 by Heath McCabe

Fundraising is a critical aspect of keeping all community based clubs operational. WGJFC aims to provide the best equipment and facilities possible for our players, parents and coaches to utilise. Jumpers, balls, medical supplies and other equipment need to be replaced each year and this is where the bulk of the money raised by events such as the Race Night and Club Raffle goes.
The first fundraising event for the club for the upcoming season (season opener is 29th April 2012), is sure to be a great one for the club. Bunnings Balcatta is hot dog heaven and on Boxing Day this year, we have secured the opportunity to fundraise on one of their busiest days of the year. We have the sausages, rolls, onions, drinks, radio/tv for the cricket and the difficult to fit rubber gloves - all we need now is VOLUNTEERS!
Please contact Lincoln Rollo at wgjfcpresident@gmail.com if you are able to give 2 hours of your time on December 26th.

Medibank Healthy Attitude Award

posted 23 Nov 2011 07:08 by Heath McCabe

Tom Manera of the 16s team was recently announced one of three winners of the Medibank Private sponsored award for young athletes with a 'healthy attitude' towards their chosen sport and life in general. His team mates and coaches fully endorsed his recognition as a positive role model for his team and the younger players in the club. Well done, Tom!

2012 Committee

posted 23 Nov 2011 06:53 by Heath McCabe

The recently held AGM saw the entire Club Executive stand down from their posts - a big call for any community based club. Three outstanding volunteers in Steve Philippe (President), Neil Hall (Secretary) and Paul Stephenson (Treasurer) who had given so much to the club over a number of years, came to their decisions independently to finish in their roles.

Although some attending the meeting (including the author) were anxious about the situation the club faced, this did not last long as three people stood tall and volunteered to take on these most important roles within the committee.

Lincoln Rollo is the club's new President, Margaret Egan takes on the role of Secretary and Martin Rogers is stepping up to the Treasurer's position. The committee also welcomed new members in Mandy Kimberley (Catering Coordinator) and Adrian Murphy.

The new committee will continue to meet over the Summer to plan for the 2012 season and welcome your input. Please visit the Club Contacts page and send through your thoughts.

Finals Football

posted 12 Sep 2011 00:07 by Heath McCabe

The club is proud of the efforts of all coaches, managers and players this season and would like to wish our two finals bound teams, the 15s and 16s, the very best in the coming weeks - hopefully both finish their season with a grand final appearance!

The 16s started brilliantly at Barry Britton Reserve Sunday afternoon but were overrun by a highly skilled Carine side. They will be hungry to get a second shot at the Cougars in the GF but first must overcome Edgewater next week. The coaches report from today's game can be found here.

A remidner to all members that the AGM is to be held from 6:30pm at the Ellersdale clubrooms on Friday 9th September to be followed by a thank you function for the coaches and managers. The trophy presenation evening for the Open teams will be held at Medibank Stadium on Wednesday 7th Septmeber from 6:30pm
